Who doesn’t like the smell of cinnamon baked apples?! It kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside! 😀 My family and I went apple farm-hopping this past weekend and picked up some pretty awesome apples! This recipe below is a very simple, low-sugar, delightful fall treat! Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 8-10 large McIntosh Apples, remove skin and slice
- ½ cup or so apple juice (pear juice will work fine too) (the more apple/pear juice you use the mushier the apples will be. If you want the apples to hold some shape, I suggest using less apple/pear juice (about a little over a ¼ cup)
- 2½ cups + almond flour
- 4-5 tbs grassfed organic butter
- pinch sea salt
- pinch or two cinnamon
- 3 tbs raw honey
Instructions
- Add sliced apples to an 8 x 8 baking pyrex.
- Pour apple juice over sliced apples.
- Give a pinch of cinnamon over apples.
Topping
- Place almond flour, butter, sea salt, cinnamon and raw honey in food processor and pulse it until it gets crumbly. (Do not over process this mixture. You want it to be crumbly, not overly wet. If you feel you have used too much butter, add a little more almond flour)
- Top apples with topping and cover baking dish.
- Pop into a preheated 350 degree oven and bake for about 30-45 + minutes...Until apples are fork tender.
- The last few minutes of baking, remove cover to let topping get a bit golden.
- Enjoy!
- Note: If you are dairy free, feel free to try using the cultured organic grass-fed ghee or coconut oil instead. I have not tried either as of yet but I imagine it would work fine.
